Dear Katherine Paterson,

At first I was not sure about reading this book [Bridge to Terabithia]. By the cover I thought it might have been boring. Well it turns out the longer I read this book the more I did not want to put it down. I soon began to realize I had a big connection to this book.

Two years ago my aunt passed away from cancer. She was a great friend. We’d spend a lot of time together, but I could never forget the time my mom told me she had passed away. I remember myself running to my bedroom and crying myself to sleep. Every night I’d ask God, “Why did you take her, why?” I wished I could see her just one last time.

When I read this book it brought back sad memories to see the same thing happen to someone else, but by relating to Jess I got to see how he solved his problem and maybe how to solve mine. By moving forward it helped me to not be afraid of the past and made me think I’ll probably see her in heaven one day.

The next few years my family helped me realize that God has a perfect timing for everything. Even though we might have lost someone special we’ll always have them in our heart. I’m thinking after all it was a good idea to read this book.
